Who We Are

Vision & Mission

Vision

To build Kapai into India's most-loved neighbourhood coffee house — a third space that travels from city to city while carrying the same feeling: home away from home. A place people return to as part of their everyday ritual.

Mission

To give every guest a space where they feel seen, heard, and acknowledged — through familiar flavours and vibes, while experimenting with what's new. A comfort spot, a safe space to connect with oneself, where community is brewed one cup at a time.

Our Story

Where It All Began

Founded by Harshveer Singh Bhatia, Kapai — meaning "great" in New Zealand slang — began in Kanpur, February 2024, from one gap: the city lacked a real specialty coffee third space.

Today it's a full sensory experience: specialty coffee, globally-inspired comfort food, and a cozy ambience built to travel from city to city.

Lucknow
Rising corporate & student base: premier B-schools and universities, growing IT/BPO corridors, and a booming co-working & work-café culture, city after city.
Cities like Jaipur, Lucknow, Chandigarh and Indore are already named among India's thriving tier-2 specialty coffee markets — yet none has a dominant "third space" community café brand. That's Kapai's window.
The Competitive Landscape

Tier-2 India's Café Scene — and the Gap

National Chains Moving In
Third Wave Coffee (165+ outlets, 12 cities), Blue Tokai, Costa and Starbucks are pushing into tier-2 markets — investor confidence, but none yet dominant city to city.
Independent Local Favourites
A handful of well-loved local cafés in every city — but single-outlet spots, not scalable, investable brands.
Work Cafés & Coworking Hybrids
A growing coworking scene — functional for remote work, but workspace-first, not community-first.
The Gap
No proven, scalable "third space" specialty-coffee-and-bistro brand with a ready-to-invest franchise model has claimed tier-2 India yet.
The Brand
