The story of how a gap in Kanpur's café scene became Kapai — and where it's headed next.
To build Kapai into India's most-loved neighbourhood coffee house — a third space that travels from city to city while carrying the same feeling: home away from home.
To give every guest a space where they feel seen, heard, and acknowledged — through familiar flavours and vibes, while experimenting with what's new.
Founded by Harshveer Singh Bhatia, Kapai — meaning "great" in New Zealand slang — began in Kanpur, February 2024, from one gap: the city lacked a real specialty coffee third space.
Today it's a full sensory experience: specialty coffee, globally-inspired comfort food, and a cozy ambience built to travel from city to city.
Kapai means a feeling — warmth, calm, being present.
